Gunfire breaks out during counterterrorism raid in Brussels

Gunfire broke out Tuesday, March 15, during a counterterrorism raid in the Belgian capital Brussels, NBC News reported, citing local media.

Belgian media said that at least one suspect fled and at least one police officer was lightly wounded in the incident in the Forest area of the city. Police sealed off the neighborhood.

The raid was part of Belgium's ongoing investigation into the Paris terror attacks, according to Le Soir.

Several of the terrorists behind the Paris terror attacks of November had ties to Brussels.
