Nigerian Army rescues hostages, kills Boko Haram kingpin, militants

The Nigerian Army on Monday, March 21 said its troop engaged in clearing operation at Dalore in Borno State killed 19 Boko Haram terrorists, including a kingpin of the group, Premium Times reports.

The Acting Director of Public Relations at Army Headquarters, Sani Usman, said 67 hostages were freed during the operation, with arms and ammunition also recovered.

Usman, a colonel, said in the statement, “The 22 Brigade Garrison carried out clearing operation at Dalore camp on Sunday, killing 19 Boko Haram terrorists and Ameer of Dalore among them.

“The troops also captured 2 AK-47 Rifles, 1 Small Machine Gun and 1 Hand Grenade and recovered 4 pickup vehicles. They rescued 67 hostages from the terrorists. The freed captives are currently undergoing screening at Internally Displaced Persons in Dikwa,” Usman noted.
