Oscar Isaac reteams with “Ex Machina” helmer for “Annihilation”

After helping to save the galaxy in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” Oscar Isaac is set to reteam with his “Ex Machina” director Alex Garland on Paramount’s sci-fi movie “Annihilation”, TheWrap has learned.

Natalie Portman stars alongside Gina Rodriguez, Tessa Thompson and Jennifer Jason Leigh.

Scott Rudin is producing the adaptation of Jeff VanderMeer’s novel, which follows a group of women who take on a dangerous mission where the laws of nature don’t apply.

The group consists of an anthropologist, a surveyor, a psychologist who serves as the group’s de facto leader, and a biologist who is the narrator.

Isaac will play Portman’s husband, who may or may not have disappeared.

Isaac, who is currently busy filming Rian Johnson‘s “Star Wars: Episode VIII,” will soon be seen as the titular villain in “X-Men: Apocalypse.” He’s also expected to be in the awards conversation later this year, as he stars opposite Christian Bale in “The Promise,” which is expected to bow on the fall festival circuit.
