Provocations have become routine for Azerbaijan, Foreign Minister says

On Thursday, March 31 Foreign Minister Edward ‪‎Nalbandian‬ met with James ‪Warlick‬, the ‪U.S.‬ Co-chair of the ‪OSCE‬ ‪Minsk Group‬.

Currently in the U.S. as part of a delegation headed by the President of Armenia, Nalbandian drew Warlick’s attention to Azerbaijan’s continuous ceasefire violations.

“Ignoring the joint statement of the Co-chairs and the OSCE Chairmanship Special Representative to respect the truce during religious holidays, Baku has intensified violations of ceasefire in the wake and during the Easter,” the Armenian foreign policy chief said.

“Such provocations have become routine for Azerbaijan. And if Baku was previously undermining the negotiations through various means, attempting to shift the issue to other platforms, now, probably witnessing the inefficiency of its steps, it has started rejecting meetings with the Minsk Group Co-chairs.”

Minister Nalbandian stressed that this is indeed a futile attempt to exert pressure on the negotiation process and the Co-chairs.

The sides exchanged thoughts on the possibilities of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement through exclusively peaceful means.
