Two Spanish municipalities recognize Armenian Genocide

Spanish municipalities of Puente Genil and La Roda de Andalucía officially recognized the Armenian Genocide Tuesday, April 5.

As Armenia’s Foreign Ministry reports, the City Councils of both towns unanimously adopted relevant resolutions.

In the statements, the Spanish municipalities condemned Turkey’s denialism and called on other Spanish cities and central government authorities to follow their lead.

In their speeches, the city mayors cited the preventive character of the resolutions, also stressing the timelessness of crimes against humanity and the need to give political assessments to them.
