HTC responds to the problems plaguing the Vive launch

HTC has responded to the problems that have plagued its Vive launch, Digital Spy reports.

The virtual reality headset was scheduled to ship to early adopters on April 5, but some customers saw their pre-orders unexpectedly cancelled due to a processing error. In a blog post by the "Vive Team", HTC addressed the issues after remaining silent before.

"We understand that multiple issues have arisen in the past two days and we are working hard to resolve them as quickly and efficiently as possible. We appreciate your patience as we identify these issues and work to solve them," they wrote.

They state that credit card and PayPal orders are both being processed with "no difference in order fulfilment based on the payment method used". However, some people on Reddit have disagreed about this based on their experience.

To explain the differences that those Redditors have experienced, HTC stated: "PayPal payments are made immediately at the time you order, but shipment occurs according to the order in which all orders were received. Credit card payments will place a temporary hold on the funds until your Vive has been shipped."

HTC did admit that "a small number of orders" had been processed out of sequential order, but that the issue has now been fixed and "future shipments will be sent in the order in which they were received".

And pleasingly for those who did have their orders cancelled, they will be "placed back in the queue based on their order time".

The HTC Vive goes on general sale in May and to celebrate its launch, the company teamed up with Valve to showcase the unique gaming experiences you can have with a virtual reality headset.
