Idris Elba talks his "new species" character on "Star Trek Beyond"

Idris Elba's "new species" character on "Star Trek Beyond" was finally revealed in a couple of new photos. Krall is a completely new character created just for the film and is the big baddie the crew of Enterprise will face off, AceShowbiz said.

"What's interesting about him is that he has a real beef with what the Enterprise stands for," Elba explains about his character to EW. "Krall's a character who's deeply steeped in hatred - in my opinion, a well-earned hatred - for the Federation. It felt quite political. There's a relatability to what's happening in our world. Not everybody's happy with what everybody calls the good guys."

One of the images showed Krall holding Karl Urban's Bones by the neck. "Krall is predatory. He's not one for big speeches. He is one for going to get what he wants. If that means having to do it himself, outside of his army, he is not afraid to do that," Elba described the villain.

"Star Trek Beyond" follows the Enterprise crew on their five-year mission. Simon Pegg and Doug Jung penned the script with Justin Lin on director's seat. Besides Elba, Sofia Boutella is also the new supporting act in the "Star Trek Into Darkness" sequel. The film hits U.S. theaters July 22.
