Despite OSCE MG calls Baku to push initiative on discussing Karabakh problem in UN
The Head of the Press and Information Policy Department of the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan, Tahir Taghizade, informed that the initiative on the frozen conflicts made in the UN is the joint initiative of the GUAM (Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova) countries, which want to jointly address the challenges and threats facing them. He commented on the recent statement of the OSCE Minsk Group calling on the conflict sides to avoid the actions, including UN General Assembly.

According to Taghizade, the initiative is a real reaction to the real challenges facing the states. "Azerbaijan does not intend to change the format of the negotiations. But it needs to note that the UN is not a new forum to discuss the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. It is enough to remember 4 Resolutions of the UN Security Council. Therefore, within the broad international discussions over the principles of the international law and level of the priority of these principles in connection with each other, we consider more significant the constructive efforts to address exact aspects of the situation in the region, including the Nagorno Karabakh conflict," he said.

Azerbaijan is going to "enlighten" the OSCE Minsk Group on the contribution the consideration of the topic in the UN can make to the negotiation process and its development, Taghizade said, reports Trend.
