Karabakh people have every right to protect their safety: official

Armenia’s first Deputy Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan visited the NATO headquarters on Thursday, April 21, to meet with the bloc’s Deputy Secretary-General Alexander Vershbow.

At the meeting, Tonoyan briefed the NATO official on Azerbaijan’s aggression, unleashed in early April against Nagorno Karabakh.

According to Tonoyan, Karabakh people’s right to self-determination can’t be suspended by force.

“The whole Armenian nation is mobilized, ready to protect its rights by all means. The people of Nagorno Karabakh have every right to defend themselves,” Tonoyan added.

Also, the parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation, with Vershboy stressing the importance of NATO’s relations with Armenia.

Tonoyan will on Friday participate in the discussion of the document “Planning and Review Process” (Armenia-NATO), Armenia’s Defense Ministry press office said.
