Moscow stands for maintenance of Karabakh ceasefire agreement: Lavrov

Moscow stands for the maintenance of the Nagorno Karabakh ceasefire that has an unlimited duration, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Friday, April 22 in Yerevan.

“We understand the graveness of the current situation in the conflict zone,” Lavrov said at a meeting with his Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian.

“Russia and personally President Vladimir Putin have taken active steps to halt hostilities in Karabakh. Observing the 1994 and 1995 ceasefire agreement is paramount.”

“We believe a political resolution of the conflict has no alternative. We'll do everything to prevent further escalation and casualties,” Lavrov added.
