Armenia seeks to become transit country for air travel

Economy Minister Artsvik Minasyan spoke of Armenia's intention to become a transit country for air travel during the opening of the business forum InvestArmenia-2016.

“We're waiting for reputable airlines to enter the Armenian market, thus prompting a decrease in prices for air tickets,” ARKA cited Minasyan as saying.

“It is necessary to ensure that foreign airlines are based in Yerevan, with Armenia becoming a transit country.”

Also, he reminded that Armenia is pursuing the open skies policy; a number of companies have already expressed interest in entering the Armenian market, he said, while some others have already been licensed.”
