Slipknot frontman delivers acoustic cover of Prince's “Purple Rain”

Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor paid tribute to Prince at his gig in Minneapolis on April 21, NME reports.

Prince was found dead at his Paisley Park home in the April 21 afternoon. He was 57.

On the same night, Taylor was playing a gig in Taylor's hometown of Minneapolis, performing at the First Avenue club, a venue that appears in the Purple Rain movie.

Taylor opened the show with an acoustic cover of 'Purple Rain', later covering 'Little Red Corvette' too.

Tributes to Prince have ranged far and wide with President Barack Obama stating "Today, the world lost a creative icon" and musicians including Madonna, Frank Ocean, The Weeknd and Katy Perry leading the tributes.

Paul McCartney and Mick Jagger also paid tribute to Prince following the star's death.

Meanwhile, Noel Gallagher dedicated 'Live Forever' to Prince at his Glasgow show, while Mumford & Sons and The 1975 also paid tribute to Prince at their gigs.
