Azeri troops use sniper rifles, firearms on Armenian border

15 ceasefire violations were registered on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border on the night of April 25-26, Armenia’s Defense Ministry said.

The Azerbaijani side, in particular, used various caliber firearms and sniper rifles to open random bursts of fire towards the Armenian positions.

In addition, 80 ceasefire violations by the Azerbaijani side were registered on the contact line with Karabakh overnight on April 25-26, a spokesperson for the Armenian Foreign Ministry said Tuesday, April 26.

According to Artsrun Hovhannisyan, the Azerbaijani side used almost every type of artillery asset and armored vehicle it possesses, including 60- and 82-mm mortars, RPG-7, AGM-9, AGS-17 grenade launchers, ZU-32-2 anti-aircraft autocannon and a TR-107 rocket launcher.

In addition to opening fire on military positions, Azerbaijan used MM-21 Grad multiple rocket launcher to shell the settlement of Martakert. Mataghis too fell under artillery fire.

Two Karabakh contract soldiers, Tigran Poghosyan (b. 1992) and Aram Arushanyan (b. 1972) were lethally wounded in Azerbaijan’s ceasefire violations.
