Spain's king is wrapping up two days of talks with political party leaders in a last-ditch bid to snap a four-month deadlock in finding a candidate capable of forming a government, but another election looks more likely, according to the Associated Press.

King Felipe VI was to meet Tuesday, April 26 with leaders the top four parties in the December election, ending with acting Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy of the first-place Popular Party. He will later tell Parliament whether there is a candidate or if elections should be held.

Neither Rajoy nor Pedro Sanchez, leader of the second-place Socialist party, were able to garner enough parliamentary support to form a government following the December 20 balloting.

A government must be in place by May 2 or elections will be held June 26.
