Armenia didn’t ask for CSTO help during Karabakh clashes: Sec. Gen.

Armenia did not ask the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) for assistance after the recent escalation in Nagorno Karabakh, RIA Novosti quoted CSTO Secretary General Nikolay Bordyuzha as saying on Tuesday, April 26.

He added that as he spoke with the top leadership of Yerevan, “he was given to understand that Armenia, by and large, hasn’t employed the greater part of its capacity, which is why no request had been made.”

The Secretary General added that the situation in Karabakh is of great importance for ensuring security in the whole region.

“Any direct clashes would bring to an “explosion” in the entire Caucasus. It will affect all Caucasian nations and involve many states. This is a very serious issue,” he said.

Peace should be restored in Karabakh; there will be a big war in the Caucasus otherwise, Bordyuzha warned.
