Anyone expecting the updates of Radiohead's newest album to reach them via the official social media accounts could have a long wait on their hands, as the band has wiped their internet slate clean, Digital Spy said.

Checking the Radiohead Twitter page will get you 1.58 million followers and not a single tweet, Facebook has no posts and 11.8 million likes and the official Radiohead website is quite literally just a blank space at the time of writing.

While this isn't exactly typical behaviour for a band gearing up to release new music, fans have been quick to speculate that Radiohead's behaviour could mean their ninth studio album might be on its way imminently.

And to add fuel to the fire, Radiohead fans have reported receiving an odd flyer in the post over the last week, featuring the band's bear logo and the words: "Sing the song of sixpence that goes 'Burn the witch'. We know where you live."

Well, the group did downplay rumours that the album was coming in June...

Radiohead has been teasing fans with potential details of the new album for weeks, most recently updating their Twitter profile picture to a potential new album cover back in March and reportedly shooting a new music video with There Will Be Blood director Paul Thomas Anderson.

And all this despite the group's longtime collaborator Stanley Donwood saying the album is "not done yet" in an interview a month ago.

But with a series of UK and European dates lined up for Radiohead later this month, maybe this cryptic build up to a surprise new album drop shouldn't be such a surprise after all.
