Karabakh soldiers discover ancient necropoles in country’s east

The Nagorno Karabakh Defense Army soldiers discovered antique necropoles during engineering works in the east of Artsakh on Thursday, May 5, Artsakhpress reports.

Deputy Director of State Service for the Protection of Historical Environment of the Department of Tourism at Karabakh Ministry of Economy, Diana Mirijanyan said that unearthed in the two ancient necropoles were an ancient jug and a bowl, as well as pieces of a plate.

"The finds are currently at the Department of Tourism," she said, adding that research activities will soon launch in the area.

Deputy Minister of Economy Sergey Shahverdyan noted, in turn, that the Armenian soldiers “not only defend our homeland, but also preserve our culture.”
