President Sargsyan expresses condolences over Syria terror attacks

President Serzh Sargsyan on Tuesday, May 24 sent a letter of condolences to the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad over the multiple terrorist attacks in Jableh, Tartous, Latakia and elsewhere, the presidential press office reports.

Bombs killed nearly 150 people and wounded at least 200 on Syria's Mediterranean coast on Monday in the government-controlled territory that hosts Russian military bases. Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attacks in the cities that have up to now escaped the worst of the violence in the five-year-old conflict, saying it was targeting members of President Bashar al-Assad's Alawite minority.

“There is no justifications for committing such crimes against Syria’s peaceful population,” Sargsyan said.

“We strongly condemn terrorism with all its manifestations, urging the international community to continue fighting this evil.”
