OSCE seeks to lay groundwork for Karabakh meeting: envoy

OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs have no immediate plans to visit the South Caucasus region, the U.S. Co-chair said Tuesday, May 24, according to Azerbaijani media reports.

“We do hope, however, to meet with the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan for the preparations of a summit which we expect to take place in June as previously agreed by the Presidents,”ambassador James Warlick said.

President Serzh Sargsyan and his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev met in Vienna on May 16, with Russian, French and U.S. policy makers also participating in the summit.

“We aim to lay the groundwork for negotiations that can lead to a comprehensive settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.”
