Aivazovsky’s “The Survivor” heads to auction at MacDougall’s

Ivan Aivazovsky’s “The Survivor” (1892) may become one of the most expensive items to be sold at an upcoming auction at MacDougall’s slated for June 8.

With a starting price of £450,000–600,000 (around $650,000 – $866.000), “The Survivor” is represented alongside Lado Gudiashvili’s “The Legend of the Founding of Tbilisi (£200,000 to 250,000).

The auction offers an opportunity to acquire the only version of Henryk Siemiradzki’s large-scale preparatory studies for his most famous painting – Leading Light of Christianity. Nero’s Torches – with a starting price of £400,000–500,000.
