European structures and NATO eye the South Caucasus as a whole, however each state has a separate Action Plan with NATO due to existence of unresolved problems such as the Nagorno Karabakh conflict and the tensed Russian-Georgian relations, RA Ambassador to NATO Samvel Mkrtchyan told a news conference in Yerevan. "However, I should mention that NATO is presently focused on Balkans and the South Caucasian states do not play a substantial role in the organization's plans. Georgia's aspiration to NATO may somehow change the balance of forces in the region. In this case Armenia will border with two NATO member states - Turkey and Georgia," Mkrtchyan said. The diplomat noted that Turkey's conduct in NATO joint exercises is normal. "Turkey doesn't pose problems for the Armenia-NATO cooperation," he underscored.
