Child-sized robotic exoskeleton to help kids walk again

Engineers are developing a child-sized robotic exoskeleton that helps kids to learn to walk, Digital Spy said.

The Spanish National Research Council has been working on a new device that will help children with spinal muscular atrophy, Gizmodo reports.

The exoskeleton is made up of a selection of rods and motors that can be adjusted to fit around children's legs.

Motors mimic the movement of human joints, giving patients the strength to stand up and take steps.

Children can eventually learn to walk independently with the device, which also prevent the onset of scoliosis.

The device can be modified to accommodate children between 3 and 14.
