Apple Music getting massive overhaul

Apple Music's 15 million paying subscribers will now have a totally revamped streaming service at their disposal, Digital Spy reports.

At its WWDC conference on Monday, June 13, Apple Music executive Bozoma Saint John announced that the service was being totally redesigned to better conform to users' preferences.

A new, brightly-coloured interface is designed to be more easily navigable, while the new For You feature is intended to better curate a listening experience for each user.

The For You feature includes Discover Mix that creates specific playlists based on your listening habits - much like rival Spotify's Discover Weekly.

Another new addition is song lyrics to the app - so you can sing along while you stream Britney Spears, Drake, Miranda Lambert or any of your favourite artists.

Among the older features being de-emphasised is Connect, which proved unpopular with its attempt to integrate aspects of social media into the Apple Music service.

The move comes as Apple tries to boost its subscriber base beyond its current 15 million paying users - a figure well behind Spotify's own 30 million paying customers.

Also at the WWDC conference keynote address, Apple unveiled a massive overhaul to iOS, expanded the abilities of Siri and launched an all-new macOS.
