Armenia exported $1.5 mln-worth weapons to Congo

Although Armenia isn’t a major weapons producer and seller, it does export a certain amount of arms and ammunition.

The largest such deal in the past years was registered in 2014 when ammunition worth about $1.5 million were sent abroad.

The aforementioned product group consisted of several types of weapons and military equipment – all types of artillery, including anti-aircraft machine guns, anti-tank cannons, howitzers, self-propelled artillery, as well as rifles, machine guns, carbines and other types of weapons.

The Democratic Republic of Congo is the only country to receive Armenian ammo, with some 1500 units of weaponry with a $1.468.000 customs value exported overall.

PanARMENIAN.Net inquired about the figures from the State Revenues Committee which, however, refused to comment, claiming the information is classified.

The Defense Ministry said, in turn, that it’s not involved in arms trade and is not authorized to comment on the issue.
