Tom Cruise’s “Jack Reacher: Never Go Back” unveils new trailer

Tom Cruise returns as best-selling author Lee Child‘s one-man vigilante in an action-packed trailer for “Jack Reacher: Never Go Back” released on Wednesday, June 22, according to TheWrap.

The sequel to 2012’s “Jack Reacher” also stars Cobie Smulders (“Avengers”) and Aldis Hodge (“Straight Outta Compton”). And Edward Zwick steps in for Christopher McQuarrie in the director’s chair.

“Jack Reacher: Never Go Back” follows the title character, a former military cop, as he returns to Virginia to meet the head of his former unit.

But she’s missing, he’s being charged with a crime committed nearly 20 years ago and he may even have a daughter. Making things right will lead him on a cross-country chase to uncover the truth — and maybe even a family.

The movie’s script is by Lee Child and Marshall Herskovitz, adapted from Child’s 2013 novel “Never Go Back.”

Paramount is due to release the movie in theaters on October 21.
