U.S. remains committed to peaceful settlement of Karabakh conflict

The United States on Thursday, June 30 confirmed its commitment to the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

Addressing a press briefing, State Department spokesman John Kirby confirmed that Secretary John Kerry made phone calls to Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev.

The call was initiated by the American side. According to the presidential press service, the parties weighed in on the recent developments in the Nagorno Karabakh peace negotiations mediated by Co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, focusing, in particular on the process of implementation of agreements reached in Vienna and Saint Petersburg.

“I don’t have a detailed readout,” he said.

“Of course, they talked about Nagorno Karabakh and where things are going and our desires to see a peaceful resolution there.”
