Azeri hydrocarbon to run out by 2030
The Azerbaijani government was offered a package of proposals for building a nuclear power plant in the republic, said Adil Garibov, director of the institute of radiation studies at the national academy of sciences of Azerbaijan. He informed that the document contains a detailed analysis of international experience in use of nuclear energy.
According to the scientist, in some 25-30 years the supplies of oil and gas will run out and Azerbaijan will have to use nuclear energy. "The government will to all appearance give ok to implementation of the projects, since other energy sources - wind, sun, water - can satisfy only 20% of the republic's needs. Energy specialists consider that Azeri oil and gas supplied will be exhausted in 2025, Nezavisimaya Gazeta reports.
