Karabakh allows for fair and adequate compromises to settle conflict

Every conflict can be settled only through mutual concessions, Nagorno Karabakh President Bako Sahakyan said, according to the French parliament’s newsletter.

“Reasonable, fair and adequate compromises are necessary,” Sahakyan said.

“We are ready to make concessions that don’t threaten our country’s security, and aren’t viewed as opportune moments by Azerbaijan for launching renewed attacks against Karabakh.”

“Negotiations on the settlement of the issue will enter a fresh stage once Azerbaijan comes to respect the 1994 ceasefire agreement, Karabakh rejoins the talks and psychological barriers stemming from Baku’s vindictive policies are overcome,” the President said.

“Azerbaijan must reject its own chauvinistic policy towards the Armenians and the people of Karabakh and its futile adventurism to finally respect and observe other peoples’ human rights and fundamental freedoms.”

Weighing in on the international recognition of Nagorno Karabakh and achievements registered to this end, Sahakyan expressed confidence that Karabakh’s recognition will continue more successfully in the near future, leaving a positive impact on stability in South Caucasus.
