Armenia’s Deputy Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan on Wednesday, August 17 met with Officer for Europe at the Global Peace Operations Initiative (GPOI) Ann Stieglitz and head of the Office for Peacekeeping Affairs at the U.S. defense department Timothy Burn.

At the meeting, the parties discussed Armenia’s participation in UN peacekeeping operations, organization of relevant trainings, as well as issues concerning the upcoming projects to be implemented within the GPOI.

Armenia’s membership in the GPOI was approved in 2013. The project chiefly seeks to support the Armenian side in the course of developing peacekeeping capabilities and integrating into UN missions.
