Nagorno Karabakh can never be part of Azerbaijan, the Armenian side may talk about mutual concessions once Azerbaijan announces compromises, Armenia's Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan said Thursday, August 18.

Baku has so far made no declaration about concessions.

“As long as Azerbaijan’s position gets increasingly coarser, the Armenian side’s talking about concessions makes no sense,” Kocharyan said.

In response to a question on what concessions Armenia expects from Azerbaijan, the Deputy Foreign Minister said: “Our stance is absolutely clear: Karabakh can’t be part of Azerbaijan, and the security of the state and people of Karabakh must be ensured. But due to Azerbaijan’s position in negotiations, delving into details now is senseless."
