Armenian wrestler wins bronze at Junior World Championships

Armenian Greco-Roman wrestler Edgar Khachatryan (120 kg) won a bronze medal at the United World Wrestling (UWW) Junior World Championships in Mâcon, France.

Wrestlers in 55 kg, 66 kg, 84 kg and 120 kg weight categories entered the completion on Wednesday, August 31.

In his first bout, Khachatryan defeated a wrestler from Belarus, then lost to Turkey’s Osman Yildirim, but ultimately managed to fetch Armenia’s second bronze from the France-hosted championship, Armenia's National Olympic Committee said.

Malkhas Amoyan and Edgar Tamazyan, also representing Armenia, were defeated in the fight for the bronze and the quarterfinals, respectively.
