Syfy is keeping two of its Canadian imports around. Killjoys and Dark Matter have been renewed for third seasons, the NBCUniversal-owned cable network announced, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Killjoys, from Canadian producer Temple Street, Universal Cable Productions and creator Michelle Lovretta (Lost Girl), has had a solid run on Fridays. With three days of DVR, the drama starring Hannah John-Kamen, Aaron Ashmore and Luke Macfarlane has averaged 1.1 million total viewers and 500,000 adults 18-49.

Dark Matter, meanwhile, has not fared as well, but the Prodigy Pictures drama based on the graphic novel of the same name is a low-cost import from Canada. Created by Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie (Stargate), the drama stars Melissa O'Neil, Anthony Lemke, Alex Mallari Jr. and Jodelle Ferland.

Dark Matter and Killjoys — which both wrap their sophomore runs this month — join recently renewed cult hit Wynona Earp (a fellow Canadian import) as earning recent renewals for 2017.

Syfy has strived in the past few years to reinvent itself with a focus on more traditional science-fiction fare along the lines of critical favorite Battlestar Galactica. The network's recent success stories include critical darling 12 Monkeys (renewed for a third yet smaller season), The Magicians, The Expanse and Z Nation. Anthology Channel Zero is due out in October and Incorporated is set for the fall.
