Armenian parliament makes amendments to surrogacy law

The Armenian parliament on Thursday, September 29 approved changes to the law on reproductive health and reproductive rights of an individual, particularly the part dealing with surrogacy.

According to the Deputy Health Minister Sergey Khachatryan, 30-40 people seek services of surrogate mothers in Armenia annually.

“The law affirms that a surrogate mother has no rights to the child. The changes also envisage that single foreigners can’t use services of surrogate mothers in Armenia,” Khachatryan said.

Also, he said, women are allowed a maximum of 2 surrogacies.
