Fresh PKK attack leaves 2 Turkish troops dead, 5 others wounded

Two Turkish soldiers were killed and five others injured in fresh clashes with PKK militants in Turkey's southeastern Hakkari province on Thursday, October 20, state-run Anadolu Agency cited a security source as saying.

The source, who asked not to be identified due to restrictions on speaking to the media, said: “The clashes occurred in the Guvendagi neighborhood of the Cukurca district. The injured were rushed to a hospital nearby.”

He added that an air-backed operation to apprehend the "terrorists" continues.

The PKK resumed its 30-year armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015.

Since then, PKK attacks have killed more than 600 security personnel, also claiming the lives of many civilians, including women and children, while more than 7,000 their own members have been killed in army operations, Anadoly says.
