OSCE CiO hopes Kocharian-Aliyev meeting will provide political basis for further talks on Karabakh
Armenia's Prime Minister Serge Sargsyan met Tuesday with OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos, the RA government's press office reports.

Welcoming the guest, the PM voiced hope that the visit will promote the OSCE-Armenia cooperation as well as the Armenia-Spain bilateral relations.

For his part, Mr Moratinos said Spain plans to establish embassy in Armenia what will efficiently contribute to the development of bilateral relations. He also praised Armenia's economy growth and said that Spain, being one of the world's major investors, can make investments in various fields in Armenia.

He noted the importance of the visit in the context of the Karabakh peaceful process and encouraged those who seek for creation of the atmosphere of trust between the Armenian and Azeri people.

The OSCE CiO congratulated PM Sargsyan on the improvement fixed by the OSCE observation mission during the May 12 parliamentary elections rating it as a good foundation for the presidential election. He assured that the OSCE is ready to maximally assist in holding elections at a high level and in accordance with the European criteria.

Thanking for the positive estimation Serge Sargsyan noted the election system needs perfection to fully meet international standards. He voiced hope that the presidential election in 2008 will demonstrate a greater improvement.

When touching upon the Nagorno Karabakh conflict resolution the RA PM confirmed the position of the Armenian side to settle the problem peacefully and via mutual concessions. "I am hopeful that the Saint Petersburg meeting will produce effect despite Azerbaijani President's statements, which inspire little optimism. This meeting may cement a political basis for further talks," he said.
