Muse took home the biggest award of the night at last night’s Q Awards. The Q Awards 2016 ceremony was held at London’s Roundhouse, hosted by radio DJ Christian O’Connell. Guests at the ceremony included Johnny Marr, Carl Barat and Mel C, NME reports.

Muse beat Coldplay, U2, Biffy Clyro and The 1975 to win the Best Act in the World Today award. Accepting the award, frontman Matt Bellamy reportedly told the crowd: “Thank you; we are the best act in the world today. We don’t deserve it; let’s be honest. Shout out to U2 – we owe so much to them. We toured with them in 2009 and learned so much from them.”

Drummer Dominic Howard added: “I agree with Matt. It’s a ridiculous title but we’ll take it. As with all these things, we’re accepting that on behalf of our fans. Thank you.”

Other winners on the night included James Bay (Best Solo Artist), Jack Garratt (Best Breakthrough Act), Bastille (Best Track), The 1975 (Best Album) and PJ Harvey (Best Video).

MIA won the Innovation in Sound award, U2 won Best Live Act, Meat Loaf was awarded the Hero Award and Blondie won Outstanding Contribution To Music. Madness was inducted into Q’s Hall of Fame.
