Taraji P. Henson in “Hidden Figures” Oscar-buzzy drama trailer

Taraji P. Henson wants to be in the room where it happens in the new trailer for “Hidden Figures”, the Oscar-buzzy film from 20th Century Fox, Variety said.

When the trailer begins, the three leads — Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monáe — are pulled over by a police office. He asks where they work, and Henson replies, “NASA.”

“NASA. I had no idea they hired…” the office trails off in front of the trio of African American women before Spencer jumps in. “There are quite a few women… working in the space program,” she says.

Kevin Costner, Kirsten Dunst and Jim Parsons also star in the film directed by Theodore Melfi from a script written by Melfi and Allison Schroeder. The soundtrack for the movie will feature music from Pharrell, Monáe, Alicia Keyes, Mary J. Blige and Kim Burrell.

The film tells the story of three women who help launch John Glenn, the first American astronaut to make a complete orbit of the Earth.

“I need to be in that room hearing what you hear,” Henson tells Costner in the trailer, who replies, “Within these walls who makes the rules?”

Henson pushes back: “You sir, you are the boss. You just have to act like one… sir.”

“Hidden Figures” is set to open in limited release on Dec. 25 and open wide on Jan. 6, 2017.
