Netflix renews "Luke Cage" Marvel series for season 2

Netflix can't get enough of "Luke Cage". The streaming service officially announces that they have picked up the Marvel series for a second season. "Always forward," the show quotes the hero's signature phrase when breaking the news on Twitter and teasing that the sophomore set is "coming soon", AceShowbiz said.

"Luke Cage" became the first ever black superhero series. It premiered on September 30 and Netflix went down soon afterwards. It's unclear whether the problem was caused by "Luke Cage" overload, but fans who wanted to binge-watch the Mike Colter-starring show called out the streaming service over the hitch.

"Luke Cage" is the third Marvel series on Netflix. "Daredevil" starring Charlie Cox came out first before "Marvel's Jessica Jones" starring Krysten Ritter followed. The next series will focus on Marvel's Iron Fist starring Finn Jones before those four outsiders will team up in one big ensemble called "The Defenders".
