Levon Aronian in second spot after London Chess Classic round 3

Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian played out a draw with Wesley So of the United States in the third round of London Chess Classic on Sunday, December 11.

With six rounds still to come in the tournament which is a part of the Grand Chess Tour, So leads the table on two and a half points while Aronian has the second spot with a half-point difference.

Aronian beat English grandmaster Michael Adams in the first round of the tournament, and drew with Russia's Vladimir Kramnik in the second.

After winning the Sinquefield Cup, So is first in the overall standings of the Grand Chess Tour. He has 30 GP points but Aronian (21.75) or Hikaru Nakamura (21.50) also still have chances to win the Grand Chess Tour if they win in London and So does not finish on place six or better.

The tournament is the last of the Grand Chess Tour. The winner in London receives $75,000, the overall winner of the Grand Chess Tour receives another $75,000.
