"Godzilla 2" finally gets an official title. In a press release, Legendary Pictures announces that the upcoming sequel to Gareth Edwards' 2014 monster movie "Godzilla" is named "Godzilla: King of Monsters", AceShowbiz said.
Meanwhile, Universal changes the title of "Pacific Rim 2". Initially called "Pacific Rim: Maelstorm", the follow-up to Guillermo del Toro's 2013 film "Pacific Rim" is now named "Pacific Rim: Uprising".
"Godzilla: King of Monsters" is directed by Michael Doherty ("Krampus"). It's scheduled for March 22, 2019. The movie is reportedly leading up to a crossover with "King Kong" which will return to the big screen in a reboot on March 10, 2017. The "Godzilla vs. Kong" is tentatively planned for 2020.
Meanwhile, "Pacific Rim: Uprising" is helmed by Steven S. DeKnight. It's due Stateside on February 23, 2018. It stars John Boyega and Scott Eastwood.
