Will Ferrell, Kristen Wiig teaming up to develop a movie musical

Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig are teaming up to develop a musical based on the non-fiction book Everything Is Coming Up Profits: The Golden Age of Industrial Musicals.

As Digital Spy reports citing Deadline, they will be working alongside Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, who were the songwriters behind the Broadway musical version of Hairspray.

Marc Platt – who worked on the likes of Wicked and La La Land – is set to produce the project.

It hasn't been confirmed whether Will and Kristen will star in the movie but we sure hope so. We can't help but think the duo would work perfectly together – especially after their appearance in Lifetime TV movie A Deadly Adoption.

The book was released in 2013 by Steve Young and Sport Murphy, and focused on little seen but lavishly made musical shows.

It reveals how corporate America – including companies such as Coca-Cola, American Standard and Philips Petroleum – employed Broadway talent to take part in industrial shows from the 1950s to the 1980s to help motivate sales forces and educate employees on products.

While contracts are still being negotiated, the new musical is set to go through the Amblin Entertainment label for Universal Pictures.

Ferrell and Wiig were last seen on the big screen in Zoolander 2, while Bridesmaids star Wiig was also seen this year in the new Ghostbusters.
