New details about "Tomb Raider" remake character revealed

Little is known about Walton Goggins' villain role in upcoming "Tomb Raider" remake, but the actor has shared some interesting details regarding the character, AceShowbiz reports. He recently told Collider that the villainous character was not a villain for nothing, describing him as "confused," "angry" and "desperate."

"I'm just so excited about it! I'm such a big fan of [Alicia Vikander] and this director, Roar [Uthaug]," Goggins began by praising the Lara Croft depicter and the helmer. "Quite honestly, the script feels like it's already been in the world, in some ways. The structure and the foundation of this story is so solid and so interesting."

"It's so unbelievably entertaining, and yet it's real in the journey that it takes you on," the 45-year-old actor continued, before revealing his villain role's details. "And this person that I get to play is confused and angry and desperate. I'm just looking forward to getting in his head. I'm really, really, really excited about it."

Goggins previously told Yahoo! Movies that the baddie he's going to play in the untitled Tomb Raider reboot would take moviegoers by surprise. "Is he a villain? Sure, that is an easy description. An antagonist, for sure," he said.

"But [like other characters] I have been so lucky to have the opportunity to play over the course of my career," the actor added. "There are real reasons behind his antagonism, and it's not what you'd expect. He is very complicated, and his motivations are pure."
