"The Detour" star Daniella Pineda joins "Jurassic World 2" in key role

The production team of "Jurassic World 2" is currently busy assembling the cast. Besides the returning actors such as Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, the movie will reportedly feature "The Detour" star Daniella Pineda.

Pineda, who stars on The CW's "The Originals" as Sophie Deveraux, joins the cast as a second female lead, AceShowbiz said citing Variety. However, details about the role the TV star will be playing are still kept under warps.

"Jurassic World 2" will be the first major studio movie for the "American Odyssey" star. She has appeared in indie movies, including the upcoming "Mr. Roosevelt".

Previously, the "Jurassic World" sequel has added some new cast members. They include Rafe Spall ("The BFG"), Toby Jones ("Sherlock") and Justice Smith ("The Get Down").

Not much is known about the movie. The production team still keeps a lid on the plot. However, the production is set to begin this coming spring.

Original "Jurassic Park" actor B.D. Wong is expected to reprise his role as Dr. Henry Wu. The movie will be directed by Juan Antonio Bayona ("The Impossible", "A Monster Calls"), while Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly serve as screenwriters. Belen Etiza, Patrick Crowley and Frank Marshall are set to produce the movie. Meanwhile, Steven Spielberg, Trevorrow and Thomas Tull serve as executive producers. "Jurassic World 2" is scheduled to hit U.S. theaters on June 22, 2018.
