Consultations on Russia-U.S. joint use of Gabala radar base to open September 15
Russia, Azerbaijan and the U.S. are expected to open trilateral consultations on Gabala radar base September 15, RF Vice Premier Sergey Naryshkin said during a formal visit to Azerbaijan. "Experts from Azerbaijan, Russia and the U.S. will start work on September 15," he said adding that the issue was raised during the talks with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, RIA Novosti reports.
Russia's President Vladimir Putin proposed George Bush to jointly use Gabala radar station leased by Russia from Azerbaijan. The Russian side supposes this move would allow the U.S. to abandon the plans on mounting anti-missile assets in Czechia and Poland.
