Multi-purpose MiG-35 fighter aircraft may replace the MiG-29s at the Russian air base, stationed in Yerevan's Erebuni airport, base commander Aleksandr Petrov said.
He noted that as aviation develops, new technology, mainly Su -30s will be introduced to Russia’s air force.
“The pilot project of the MiG-35 aircraft was demonstrated recently,” he said.
“After some time - in a few years - the base may be equipped with the MiG-35s, which will soon go into production in Russia.”
At the same time, he stressed that the MiG-29 jets, along with Mi-24 and Mi-8 helicopters currently stationed at the Armenia base are fully prepared to carry out any combat tasks.
