Security and Progress: RPA launches election campaign

Armenia’s ruling Republican Party (RPA) kicked off its campaign on Sunday, March 5 ahead of parliamentary elections slated for April 2.

“The process of forming a parliamentary system is now in the hands of our citizens,” Armenian President, RPA chairman Serzh Sargsyan said.

“As a person leading Armenia’s ruling party, I attach great importance to these elections. We must organize them in a way that leaves no doubts about the freedom, transparency or respect for justice in the whole process.”

He said elections “in line with the letter and spirit of the law will be our joint success.”

The party is starting off the campaign with the slogan “Security and Progress” as, according to Sargsyan, nothing matters more than the nation’s security.

The president then went on to say that prime minister Karen Karapetyan and the government’s task is to ensure and promote progress throughout the years to come.

“With all due respect for our opponents, we are confident in our victory as we believe in the future of our country and the great potential that our people possess,” Sargsyan said.

“We are sure to become the most efficient, fastest-growing, and the safest country in the region.”
