Members of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) don’t make full use of the potential that the bloc has to offer, Armenian prime minister Karen Karapetyan said Tuesday, March 7.

Karapetyan was attending a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Kyrgyzstan’s capital city of Bishkek.

“Armenia intends to consistently and systematically work in this direction,” the premier added.

The meeting particularly focused on trade talks between the bloc and third countries, with Armenia reaffirming its readiness to continue its active involvement and push forward the EEU-Iran negotiations.

The meeting’s agenda included a wide range of issues, including regulation of the Eurasian Economic Council’s domestic market and encouraging sectoral cooperation.

Special attention was paid to trade inside the Union, mechanisms for preventing illegal turnover of industrial and agricultural products, as well as protection of intellectual property rights.

The next meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council will be held in the Russian city of Kazan on May 26.
