Samsung has announced the launch details of its upcoming Galaxy Tab S3 device - and it's not far away, Digital Spy said.

The Tab S3 will launch on March 31, when it can be purchased direct from Samsung or from "select retail partners". No word yet on who those will include.

Samsung's flagship device will ship with a 9.7-inch sAMOLED display capable of rendering at 2048 x 1536, and a 6000mAh battery which it claims can sustain 12 hours of video playback.

It's a premium design which ships with a premium pricetag: prices for the Tab S3 start at $740. Samsung is attempting to sweeten the deal by throwing in a keyboard cover worth $150.

Rather astonishingly, Apple's iPad Pro actually begins at the lower price point of $680 for a device with a 9.7" display, Digital Spy said.

Whether the extra cash is worth splashing on Samsung's Android offering remains to be seen.
