Turkish Amb. in Baku: H.Res.106 passage "stabbed U.S.-Turkey friendship"
"Passage of the Armenian Genocide resolution stabbed the U.S.-Turkey friendship," said Huseyn Avni Karslyoglu, the Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan.
"Relations between the states are determined by the governments. However, I can't understand who is interested in tensions. One think I can say for sure, Armenians will not benefit from the decision either," the Turkish diplomat said, Day.az reports.
October 10, with a vote 27 to 21 the U.S. House Committee on Foreign Affairs adopted the Armenian Genocide Resolution, H.Res.106, which was introduced by Representative Adam Schiff January 30, 2007. The measure is co-sponsored by 226 Congressmen.
A non-binding resolution, it's not supposed to be sent to Senate or to be signed by the President.
Turkey has already condemned the Committee's decision and accused U.S. lawmakers of "irresponsibility."
