NATO will fulfill promise not to deploy forces in Central Asia and Caucasus
NATO confirms that it's not going to deploy forces in Central Asia and Caucasus even if states from these regions join the Alliance. "We undertook not to deploy forces in these countries," said Robert Simmons, NATO's special representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia.
"We will not go back on our promise even if some Caucasus states join the Alliance," he said adding the has been no political decision on possible accession of Caucasus countries to NATO so far, Interfax reports.
